Celebrating Kevin Henkes in 1st Grade! on PhotoPeach We have had a great time doing an Author’s Study of Kevin Henkes’ books. During Readers Workshop we have worked on retelling, how to compare and contrast story elements, and discussed his books to form an opinion about the books and the characters using evidence from the books. We have use Kevin Henkes as a mentor during our Writer’s Workshop time while creating our own small moment narrative stories. The intent of the Authors Study is to teach children to love and enjoy stories. After making their mice headbands, all the mice had a great time making Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse and Mr. Slinger’s Tie. Enjoy the slideshow!
