Shiver me Science! on PhotoPeach WOW! We are loving 2nd grade! Our lesson on “How does the amount of salt change melting time?” was Awesome! We are getting better at our daily Rituals and Routines. Reading with our Reading partners was successful! Our Writer’s Workshop has begun. Yay! So much to do so little time! Celebrating Kevin Henkes in 1st Grade!

Celebrating Kevin Henkes in 1st Grade! on PhotoPeach We have had a great time doing an Author’s Study of Kevin Henkes’ books. During Readers Workshop we have worked on retelling, how to compare and contrast story elements, and discussed his books to form an opinion about the books and the characters using evidence from the books. We have use Kevin Henkes as a mentor during our Writer’s Workshop time while creating our own small moment narrative stories. The intent of the Authors Study is to teach children to love and enjoy stories. After making their mice headbands, all the mice had a great time making Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse and Mr. Slinger’s Tie. Enjoy the slideshow!

We set our traps but was not successful in catching the speedy leprechaun! We are so happy he left a green coin in our traps after escaping them! Very crafty!
